10 Painful Things to Ponder as You Grow Old

1. Removing people you thought are “friends” when in fact they are the ones who pressure you to do things you don’t like just to be “in” is normal.

Happiness is not counted by the number of friends you have but by the type of people who values you and loves you the most.

2. Being honest to your family and tell them what you really like and want to do instead of following their traditional ways of living will make your life better.

Go out of your comfort zone and follow your dreams even if it means going somewhere far and be away from the people you used to be with physically, will help you grow professionally and achieve satisfaction in life.

3. Accepting the fact that your friends have different priorities now and they might not always be available when you need them.

Real friends will always be there especially on hard times. They might be busy with their own careers or building their own family but what matters is you know you can always count on them and they can count on you.

4. Realizing that the world a huge battle ground – there’s always a competition  and it is not easy to get the things that you want.

Maybe it’s not for you because you deserve something better. But never give up. Continue fighting,  searching and when you found one, appreciate, grow and always push yourself to do better.

5. Sometimes you have to choose – your passion or your job.

Either doing what makes your soul happy or sticking to what provides you with the basic things to survive. But as long as your heart beats, time will come that you don’t have to choose anymore. Just be patient and set your priorities accordingly.

6. Getting interested or falling in-love to someone who will never feel the same is truly painful.

Life is not a fairy-tale. There isn’t always a happy ending. We love, we get hurt but we stand up and learn to slow down and breath. Pull your guards up and be more careful of whom you let in.

7. The older you get, the more life gets complicated.

With more life experiences, more struggles come in the way. More responsibilities, more pressure, more problems and more issues. But whatever you are going through, never escape. Always face what’s coming and let all these challenge you instead of discourage you.

8. Comparing your achievements to others is unhealthy.

Though some finds it motivating and pushes them to work hard as well, but always remember we have different path in life and no matter how slow or fast we are, what’s important is that we reach our destination and we get to enjoy the journey along the way.

9. Sometimes you feel so down and hopeless that you want to escape life.

No one else can destroy you other than yourself. Whenever you feel that the world is crushing you, always remember all the happy moments you had with the people you love. Do the small things that makes you happy. Most importantly, never pretend you’re fine. It’s okay to cry and feel sad. It will make you feel better and have strength for more challenging tomorrows.

10. Being alone is a must.

When you’re bombarded with things you can’t handle anymore or surrounded with people who annoys you, being alone will give you time to breathe and relax. Go out, pamper and spoil yourself once in a while so when you come back to the crowd, you come back stronger, wiser and happier.
